Introduction

Son de Flor was kind enough to gift me a dress to photograph and review, when I reached out to them for a photoshoot collaboration; the vision for the photoshoot was a cozy, moody Airbnb stay. I recently started following them when I saw an influencer I admire wearing their brand and fell in love their product designs; everything that Son de Flor creates is beautiful and timeless. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to try out one of their products for myself!

A Bit About the Brand

Son de Flor, "Sound of Flower" refers to the resilient flax plant they use to make their classic linen designs which are environmentally friendly and gentle on the skin. All of the supplies used to create their gorgeous, high-quality clothing are locally sourced to lessen their carbon footprint. Their packaging is also free of plastics and is recyclable. Most of their items are made-to-order to reduce waste and manage the use of resources more efficiently. If you have enjoyed an item purchased through them in the past but no longer see yourself wearing it, they are more than happy to find a new home for it via their pre-loved program.

The details

Comfort

quality of the fabric

Usually, when one thinks of a linen dress, they assume the fabric is going to be itchy and stiff. Not the case with this dress! I was surprised at how soft and comfortable the fabric is. It doesn't irritate the skin at all and dries nicely (virtually wrinkle-free) if you hang it up damp after washing.

Button Up

putting the dress on

Such a nice feature to use buttons! It looks so lovely compared to a stiff side zipper allowing the dress to lie more naturally on the curve of the body. It is a bit tricky getting the last button at the top, but worth it for such a cute dress.

It has pockets!!!

every woman's dream

It's rare that I find a dress that fits me just right and has pockets! Perfect for when you're out adventuring and don't want to bring a purse with you. I can't wait to wear this dress to a pumpkin patch or festive farmer's market!

Son de Flor left an adorable note inside the pocket of the dress, when they shipped it. How cute!

Customize the Fit

Ajustable straps

Thankfully, the dress has buttons for the shoulder straps as well making them easy to adjust for the length of your torso. It is still a bit loose on me, but that is to be expected as a 5ft nothing gal. It's hardly noticeable and still quite comfortable to wear!

Versatility

style for any season or occasion!

This dress, like many of their other items, is great for dressing up or dressing down for any occasion. You can wear a cute pair of flats or heels for a simple, yet elegant look, add a button-up sweater for the cooler autumnal temperatures (and go enjoy some festive events nearby!), or wear a nice collared long-sleeve blouse and some tights underneath to stay warmer during the winter months. The possibilities are endless!

Overall, I highly recommend this dress as a wardrobe staple! If this particular dress isn't necessarily your style, Son de Flor has so many more to choose from. They also have skirts, pants, vests, jackets/coats, sweaters, and a variety of tops to choose from. It's the perfect place to shop if you enjoy cottagecore, dark academia, or vintage/romantic attire!
