Winter Stay in nyc

We took a train from Roanoke, Virginia to New York City for an extended weekend in early December of 2022. Our hotel was located in the Upper West Side near Central Park; I loved it! It was so neat getting to walk around and find a place to eat every night; there's so much variety in the food there, too (probably my favorite part of the vacation). A couple of mornings, we would find a nearby coffee shop, pick up breakfast, and enjoy it in the park before adventuring for the day; so relaxing! Using the subway to get around wasn't as anxiety-inducing as I had initially thought. When we looked a little lost, a local would notice and help us out. I can't tell you enough how sweet New Yorkers are; it's actually the tourists that give NYC a bad name with their rudeness. The few unpleasant interactions we had were from other people visiting. So many people were there for Christmas. If you prefer to go during a less busy time of the year where there are less crowds, look up what months are the off seasons for New York City! Also, if you do go during the month of December, bring a raincoat and lots of layers to stay dry and warm!

Some Notable Places We Visited:

  • Little Italy for sweets
  • Chinatown (the food, oh my goodness)
  • Time Square
  • Watched Chicago on Broadway (highly recommend)
  • Rockefeller Center
  • Central Park
  • Brooklyn Bridge
  • Saint Patrick's Cathedral
  • Empire State Building
  • Statin Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty
